03 Import and export

What we do, from sourcing to delivery.

Sourcing for importers abroad

You buy goods made in Türkiye, or want to. We source them from Turkish producers and coordinate the shipment to your destination.

Shipments into and out of Türkiye

For importers in Türkiye, and for buyers and sellers with a contract in place, we coordinate each consignment from its origin to its destination.

Progress you can ask about

We record each stage a consignment reaches, from booking to delivery, so you can ask us where it stands.

Papers on record

We file the bill of lading and the customs papers with the consignment they cover. Ask for a shipment’s papers, and they are in one place.

Delivery day recorded

When a consignment lands, we note the delivery day against its estimated arrival date (ETA), so we can tell you how early or late it arrived.

Booked, in transit, customs, delivered. We record each stage.

Every shipment takes the same steps.

How goods move with us

  1. 1SourcingFor importers abroad, we source the goods from Turkish producers.
  2. 2TermsThe goods, the Incoterm, the origin and the destination are set in the contract.
  3. 3BookedSpace is booked with the carrier for the consignment.
  4. 4In transitThe consignment is on its way, and the bill of lading is filed on its record.
  5. 5CustomsThe goods are presented for export or import clearance, and the customs papers are filed on the consignment’s record.
  6. 6DeliveredThe consignment lands, and we record the delivery day against the ETA. If it is lost, returned or cancelled instead, we record that outcome.

We work to the Incoterm in your contract.

An Incoterm says who arranges and pays for transport, insurance and customs, and where the risk passes from seller to buyer. These are the terms we work to.

Incoterms we work to

  • EXWEx Works

The buyer collects the goods at the seller’s premises and bears almost every cost and risk from there.

  • FCAFree Carrier

The seller hands the goods, cleared for export, to the carrier the buyer names.

  • FOBFree On Board

The seller loads the goods on board the ship at the port of shipment, and the risk passes once they are on board.

  • CFRCost and Freight

The seller pays the sea freight to the port of destination, and the risk passes once the goods are on board at origin.

  • CIFCost, Insurance and Freight

Like CFR, but the seller also insures the goods for the voyage.

  • CPTCarriage Paid To

The seller pays the carriage to the named destination, and the risk passes when the goods are handed to the first carrier.

  • DAPDelivered at Place

The seller delivers to the named place, ready for unloading, and the buyer clears the goods for import and pays the duties.

  • DDPDelivered Duty Paid

The seller delivers to the named place, cleared for import, with the duties paid.

The exact place, and who does what, are written in your sales contract, with the Incoterms® edition that applies. Incoterms® is a trade mark of the International Chamber of Commerce.

We coordinate. Carriers move the goods, and customs brokers handle clearance.

These are the usual roles on a shipment. Your contract and the Incoterm decide the details.

  • EMN Groupe

Coordinates the shipment and keeps its record: the stages, the papers and the delivery day.

  • The carrier

Moves the goods and issues the bill of lading.

  • A licensed customs broker

Prepares the customs declaration for whoever the Incoterm makes responsible for clearance.

  • The buyer and the seller

Sign the sales contract, which sets the goods, the price and the Incoterm.

Short answers on Incoterms, imports and customs.

Which Incoterms do you work to?

EXW, FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF, CPT, DAP and DDP. The one that applies to your shipment is the one agreed in your sales contract.

Do you also work on imports into Türkiye?

Yes. We coordinate shipments into Türkiye as well as out of it, on the Incoterm agreed in the contract.

Who clears the goods through customs?

Usually a licensed customs broker, appointed by whoever the Incoterm makes responsible for clearance. We record when the consignment is at customs, and file the customs papers on its record.
